Jack is now 10 and Sara is now 5.
Hint: Let Sarah age= X and Jacks age= X+5.
Then 3 years later Sara's New age=X+3
and Jacks new age= (X+5)+3 =X+8.
If Jack I now twice Sara's age, then
2 (X+3)=X+8....
Solve for X...
2X+6=X+8
X+6=8
X=2
NOW PLUG 2 IN FOR EACH X.
SARA'S NEW AGE...X+3=2+3= 5
JACK'S NEW AGE...X+8= 2+8=10
Hint: Let Sarah age= X and Jacks age= X+5.

SARA'S NEW AGE...X+3=2+3= 5
JACK'S NEW AGE...X+8= 2+8=10
Sara Age Now X= 2
Jacks Age Now X+5 is 2+5= 7

Sarah's age is x
Jacks age is x + 5
In 3 years time Sarah will be x + 3, and Jack will be x + 5 + 3
2(x + 3) = x + 8
2x + 6 = x + 8
therefore x = 2
Sarah is 2 and Jack is 7
