Okay this one has completely confused me

 

Money is shared between 3 people in the ration 2:3:4

 

Smallest share is 12

 

how much money was shared altogether?

The smallest share, 12, is two parts.

Therefore one part is 6. 

The middle person got three parts, 18 (3 times 6)

And the largest amount was four parts, 32 (4 times 6)

So the three people got

12, 18, and 32

62 is the total.

ratio 2:3:4

smallest share=12

12/2=6

6*3=18

6*4=24

 

12+18+24=$54 altogether

check:

2+3+4=9

54/9=6

6*2=12

6*3=18

6*4=24
