g = 2b -5

 

2) Plug in and solve.

 

b + (2b - 5) = 40

3b - 5 = 40

3b = 45

b =15

 

g = 2(15)-5

g=30-5

g=25

 

3) Check your work by plugging your answers back into the first equation.

 

25 + 15 = 40

40 = 40
