What is the range?

What is the range of these equations?

y = 2x + 3, x<1
y = -x, x≥1

I've graphed the two equations, but I'm not sure how to find the range.

Thank you for your help!

It makes little sense to combine the ranges of these two distinct linear functions.  Each function has its own range.

IF (and I emphasize IF) this had been a single 'piecewise' function THEN the two different ranges would be combined (Union).

Is there a way to combine the ranges? It seems like she's looking for one range for both equations, not one for each.

Thanks!

(-∞, 5) U (-∞, -1] = (-∞, 5)

The second range is included within the first.

Actually the combined range
would be (-∞, 5)

The ranges are  (-∞, 5) and  (-∞, -1)

Correction...  (-∞, 5) and  (-∞, -1] since the -1 is included in the 2nd function
