You are on the right track! You're thinking PEMDAS, right? It turns out that there is a little more nuance to that rule. It should really look more like PE(MD)(AS) where the multiplication and division steps are equal, and should be completed from left-to-right. The same goes for the addition and subtraction group.
So, the first thing we do is 9*24 = 216, like you said.
Now, we divide by 8 to get 27
Now, multiply by 6 to get 162
Now, since we have completed all the multiplication and division from left-to-right, we move on to addition/subtraction.
10 - 162 = -152
