The mean score for Samantha's first six algebra quizzes was 88. If she scored a 95 on her next quiz, what will her mean score be for all 7 quizzes?

Mean of 6 Quizzes = 88 = sum of score of 6 quizzes / 6

                              88* 6 = sum of score of 6 quizzes

                             528 = sum of scores of first 6 quizzes

 

7th quizze score = 95

 

sum of scores of 7 quizzes = 528+95 = 623

 

Mean score of all 7 quizzes= 623/7 = 89.

The mean score for the first six quizzes was 88. So the cumulative (total) score was: 88 times 6 = 528.

 

Next quiz score was 95.

 

So cumulative score is 528 + 95 = 623.

 

New Mean for 7 quizzes is then: 623/7 = 89.
