What is it you are asking, Deshante? I am trying to understand what goals and the accomplishments they need to make. The systematic process of replacing long-term psychiatric hospitals with community-based mental health services is deinstituation so it would have to involve todays standards in psychiatric hospitals and community-based mental health services. If I had to venture a guess, we have made strides in suicide prevention, veteran issues, and the LGBT, but many other areas as well.
For community outreach involving suicide prevention we have the 988 crisis line and we have the 741741 text line. I have used both before and I can say its usually very useful. The 988 line called me to verify my mental health even after I used them. Veterans can get the help they need in most places community wise and the LGBT always have resources as well. I saw many veterans at the Community Counseling Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. There were many LGBT members who seemed satisfied with their progress in therapy and outpatient services there. I was shocked that there are a lot of resources for people, especially in certain groups.
I know this from experience that community mental health outreach facilities have changed in the last 20 years. A psychiatric institution I'm little rusty on considering I spent time in one back when I was 13. They were being remodeled, but the care I received was second to none, but it was a very nice place.
All and all, those would be the main accomplishments. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to answer your question! Hope this helps!
