You can solve a system of equations by plugging one equation into the other. Try plugging equation 2 into 1 since it's already in y = form.
4x + y =2
4x + (x-3) = 2
5x - 3 =2
5x = 5
x = 1
y = 1 - 3
= -2
Now plug these in to check.
4(1) -2 = 2
4-2 = 2
2=2
-2 = 1-3
-2 =-2
They check out so the answer is (1, -2).
