A soccer ball is kicked with some initial velocity v at some angle θ such that its path in the air follows the equation 

 

y=1.0+1.73x-1.225x^2

 

where (x,y) is the coordinate of the ball along its path (in metres).

 

Suppose the ball is kicked at x=0, at what value of x does the ball land (y=0)?

Set y=0 and solve for x.  Use the quadratic formula to solve for x.  Be sure to accept the positive x value.
