One way to think of this is that 161 is 40% more than the number of days of precipitation in Calgary - or two-fifths (2/5). Therefore, Winnipeg's days of precipitation is 7 fifths of Calgary's. So, Winnipeg had 115 days of precipitation:
161 * 5/7 = X
161/7 * 5 = X
23 * 5 = 115
Here's another method:
X * 1.4 = 161
X = 161/1.4
X = 115
