I am assuming this is a generalized physics question, such that the only competing forces are that of gravity (object's weight) and the buoyancy force which holds an object up in a fluid.

You did not mention what the competing forces are!

 

Weight (downward force) = force from water pressure...because if one of these forces exceeded the other, the equilibrium would be destroyed.
