the squared root of 3x equals x-6, what is the value of x

This question is about the squared root of a number and and variable equaling a variable subtracted by a number.  I need to solve for X.

Good procedure, but there is not a good reason to reject 3, since √9 = +3 or -3.

Yes.  I neglected the fact that square-roots have conjugates.
 
±√9 = ±3
 
 
Of these conjugates, 3 is a solution.
