A band estimates that 3/8 of people on its mailing list has seen the band play exactly once,

and that 7/16 of people on its mailing list have seen the band play more than once.  What fraction of people on the band’s mailing list have seen the band play at least once?

Sorry I meant to say that a band estimates that 3/8 of people on its mailing list has seen the band play exactly once.

Does that mean that 7/16 see the band more than once,
and
3/8 x 7/16 = 21/128 seen band once
9/16 seen band only once
3/8 x 9/16 = 27/128 seen band at least once?

OK. I understand what you meant.

If 3/8 have seen the band exactly once, and 7/16 have seen the band more than once, the total who have seen the band AT LEAST once will be the total of 3/8 + 7/16

the fraction 3/8 = 6/16, which, when added to 7/16 = 13/16
