Hello. My name is Joseph.

I have extensive teaching experience, and currently teach a variety of subjects through Cuesta College. I am fluent in Spanish and Italian, and I have written two grammar books on Spanish and Italian.

I am an active astronomer, and have written papers on the measurements of double stars. I am also certified to teach personal income tax preparation.

Speech delivery requires a high level of enthusiasm which will be sensed by an audience. These skills and attributes are essential to my success as a teacher.

Joseph is an outstanding instructor. He is extremely knowledgeable and even wrote a textbook on the Spanish language. He follows the chapters in his textbook for the tutoring sessions. Every hour is a well structured, information packed, learning session. Written homework is included with each session and turns out to be essential to the learning process (never thought I would say this about homework). He has an ability to explain nuances of the Spanish language in understandable terms. He is patient and carefully guides one through the correct pronunciations of words. In addition, he provides supplemental information on commonly used phrases. Unlike so many books and online courses, he teaches you the Spanish that is spoken in America not Spanish from Spain. He sets a high mark for personal tutors.

Systematic and fun.

Joseph has a steady and yet agile style that really works for me as an elder adult. His sense of systems - what to do first, identifying patterns, how to deal with exceptions and so on, is very helpful even if I do not remember them all, all the time - he also has very good jokes in Spanish for me to read and I enjoy his light-hearted and yet comprehensive approach. I am taking a break from lessons due to travel but, when I am back, I will definitely engage Joseph again - with his help my Spanish comprehension has moved forward a great deal.

Great Teacher!

Joseph is an awesome instructor. Very positive and encouraging. He knows his Spanish and how to teach. Both are extremely important to my son who is a not a language wiz and needs lots of support getting through high school Spanish to meet college requirements. Straight to the point.

My high school junior really felt like her hour and a half chemistry session with Joseph was efficient. He used chemistry in real life examples like cake mixes at high altitudes and water pressure effecting the boiling point. He was patient, thorough and respectful... Thank you Joseph.
