If the Voltage V in an electric circuit is held constant, the current I is inversely proportional to the current R. If the current id 60 amperes when the resistance is 285 ohms,  find the current when yhe resistance is 150 ohms.

Ohm's law is I = V / R

Then I • R = V, and R = V / I

 

1. When I = 60, and R = 285, V = I • R = 17,100

 

2. When V = 17,100, and R = 150, I = 17,100/150 = 114 amperes

Set up the equation.

 

When I=60, R=28.  Need to find value of V when doing future calculations.  That's why we were given numbers for I and R.

I*R=V

 

60*28=V or 1680 volts

 

Now we can solve for I when R=150.

 

I=1680/150 or 112 amperes.
