let x= weight of cashews; then 10 - x = weight of peanuts

 

$5.60x + $2.30(10 - x) = $3.29 • 10

5.60x + 23.00 - 2.30x = 32.90

5.60x - 2.30x = 32.90 - 23.00

3.3x = 9.9

x = 3 pounds of cashews; so 7 pounds of peanuts will be needed

 

Proof: 5.60 x 3 + 2.30 x 7 = 3.29 x 10
