Empedocles of Acragas believed the speed of light was finite, whereas Aristotle thought light travelled at infinite speeds. The Ancient Greeks also thought that vision was the result of light radiating out of the eye. This was known as Emission Theory. Since the ancients had no way to test the speed of light, all their theories were based on rational thought, rather than practical experimentation.
