The average work rate is NOT 1 builder, 1 cabin, day. Watch:

If 7 can build 7 in 7, and you divide their available time by 7 (down to 1 day), you will cut their result by 7 as well.

In other words, the 7 men who can build 7 cabins 7 days can build 1/7 of that many in 1/7 the number of days. So...

7 can build 1 cabin in 1 day

14 can build 2 cabins in that same 1 day.

Those same 14 can build 100 cabins in 50 days.

I promise. :-)

Matt H has this right.  You need 14 workers.

The original 7 workers build 7 cabins in 7 days
that means 7 workers make 1 cabin per day for 7 days
So 7 workers make 1 cabin per day
14 workers make 2 cabins per day
so in 50 days they make 100 cabins
