A total of 1271 boys and girls are members of a community recreation center.

 

(a) If 656 are boys, how many members are girls?

(b) Find the ratio of girls to boys who are members of the recreation center.

Answer 1

Let b and g for the number of boys and girls in the center respectively.

(a)  b + g = 1271 and b = 656

       therefore there are = 1271 - 656 = 615 girls

(b)  Ratio of girls to boys = 615 : 656
