    b. You decide that you want to make a lighter purple paint. You make the new mixture by adding 1/10 cup of white paint for ever 2/5 of red paint and 1/4 cup of blue paint. How much red paint, blue paint, and white pain do you use to make 3/8 gallon of lighter purple paint.

2r/5 + (13/8 -2/5)b = 13p/8

2r/5 + (65-16)b/40 = 13p/8

multiply by 40

16r + 49b = 65p

16 gallons of red mixed with 49 gallons of blue yield 65 gallons of purple

16/40 gall. red with 49/40 gal blue give 65/40 = 1 5/8 gal purplse

2/5 gal red with 49/40 blue
