ALGEBRA ONE WORD PROBLEM

A cell phone provider offers a plan that costs $40 per month plus $0.20 per text message sent or received. A comparable plan costs $50 per month but offers unlimited text. How many text messages with have to be sent or received in order for the plans to cost the same each month?

x = number of text messages sent
 
0.2x+40=50
 
0.2x = 10
 
5(0.2x) = 5(10)
 
x = 50
 
Therefore, 50 text messages would have to be sent or received in order for the plans to cost the same each month.
