Hi Don

Thanks so much for answering my question! Unfortunately, I'm getting contradictory answers; Rabia above is saying it's C. I get why it would be A, but C also seems right? Do you know if plus or minus is usually used for means?

Thanks,
Runner

Rabia O.

You always have a mean without any + or - to it since mean is always fixed number depending on the sum of the observation divided by the number of the observations

But in this case, the question is not clear. I thought the question is asking mean + or - standard deviation but it didn't work. and then I thought it is mean + or - the range. usually if someone ask about the mean they don't ask for + or - here only in case they specific a certain confidence interval

Hi Runner and Rabia, I agree the question is ambiguous. However, there is a standard deviation of the mean. It is found by dividing the standard deviation of the data by the square root of the number of items in the data.

For the data presented, the standard deviation of the mean is about .177, which does not fit any of the answers.

Therefore, I will stay with answer A, and I agree with the analysis done by Rabia, the answer could be C.
