How is the government changing during the Progressive Era? Give examples of those changes and how they impact America?

Anthony F.

The Progressive Era involved eliminating corruption in government and primarily targeting corrupt political machines and their bosses. By eradicating this type of corruption, people could decide policy initiatives directly and democracy would be more established. Also, the Progressive Era approved the regulation of monopolies, promoted women's suffrage and the Nineteenth Amendment. The administrations of Theodore Roosevelt (1901-09), William Howard Taft (1909-13) and Woodrow Wilson (1913-21) were a Praetorian Guard for these political and social changes.
