Solve the system by graphing.If the system is inconsistent and has no solution,state this .If the system is dependent,write the form of the solution for any real number x.

(1) 4x+2y=-8
y=3/4+7


(2) y=-5x+6
3x-4y=-24

3x-4y=-24

Rewrite the second as

-4y=-3x-24 or as y=(3/4)x+6

They are now both in slope-intercept form with the same intercept (0,6), their solution.

 

As for (1) it is given as

(1) 4x+2y=-8
y=3/4+7

 

I am going to assume you meant

4x+2y=-8

y=(3/4)x+7

Now we rewrite as

4x+2y=-8

(3/4)x-y=-7

 

Divide the first equation by 2 and have

2x     +y=-4

(3/4)x-y=-7

Add and get (2 3/4)x=-11 or (11/4)x=-11 or x=-4

and -16+2y=-8 gives y=4

(3/4)(-4)-4=-7
