Landmass and mountains. There is much less landmass, which generally means fewer mountains, in the Southern Hemisphere. This is important because mountain systems are weather factories, especially when they are near oceans. In the Southern Hemisphere the predominant factor is water, and all water at the same latitude tends to be at the same temperature, generating much more stable temperature patterns.
