Take logarithms on both sides and compare them.
Log10(1993)=93 x Log10(19) which is approximately 274
Log10(1399)=99 x Log10(13) which is approximately 253
if Log(a)>Log(b) then a>b

Not to put too fine a point, but Log10(19) = 1.278.... and so 93 x Log10(19) = 118.92. A similar situation w.r.t
Log10(13).

Thanks for that Pradip. the calculator on my IPhone has only the natural log function. I did all my calculations in natural logs (93 ln(19) = 274) and reported wrong results for base 10 logs. Be that as it may, the proof is still valid)
