You can use an area model to solve easily solve this - I'll do my best to type it out here but it looks much better on paper, I promise!

1. Place each factor onto each side of the area "box" and multiply:

x -5

x | x² -5x

+5 | +5x -25

1. Combine like terms inside the "box" - in this case -5x and 5x combined cancel out
2. Write your final answer:

x² - 25
