First isolate the terms with x by adding 10 to each side.
x2 - 10x = 10
Now divide the "b" term (10x) by two and square.
10/2 = 5 and 52 = 25
And add the result to each side
x2 - 10x + 25 = 35
You know can factor the left side and because you are using the complete the square method you know it will be a square binomial.
(x - 5)2 = 35
Take the square root of both sides and solve for x and you're finished.
x - 5 = +/- sqrt(35)
x = sqrt(35) + 5, -sqrt(35) + 5
