if Sam is making a cardboard box that is 18 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 19 inches tall, he needs to measure the box by 1 inch squares. He wants to find out how many squares it would need to make the box with no overlapping in the construction

Length of box (L) = 18 inches

Width of box (w) = 12 inches

Height of box (H) = 19 inches

The number of 1 inch square that is cover surface area of box

The formula of surface area of rectangular box is

S=2(LW+LH+WH)

Substitute the given values into formula

S=2(18×12+18×19+12×19)

S=1572 Square inches

Since each 1 inch square covers 1 square inch. So Sam will need 1,572 squares to construct box without overlapping
