The shoulder joint is also called the Glenohumeral joint. It is classified as a Synovial Ball-and-Socket Joint. This type of joint exhibits a great amount of mobility, while sacrificing stability. It is made up of the convex humoral head and concave glenoid cavity of the scapula. The arthrokinematics of the joint consist of movements in the sagittal plane (flexion/extension), frontal plane (adduction/abduction), and transverse plane (internal/external rotation, horizontal adduction/abduction). Hope this helps, reach out with any question if further clarification or explanation is needed!
