When a normal six-sided die is rolled, what is the probability of getting a 7?

I think you might have been given an assignment with a bit of a trick question haha, the idea of a “normal” die is that there were would be 6 sides, each representing the digits from 1 to 6. What that means is that the probability of getting a 7 is actually 0/6 = 0.

It’s not possible to roll a 7 on a normal die, in other words :)

A six-sided die contains the numbers 1 through 6, one on each face. It is impossible to roll a 7. That means the probability is 0.

It would be a different story if there were two dice rolled. Then you could get a 7 with several different combinations:

6-1

1-6

5-2

2-5

4-3

3-4

A total of 6 outcomes that result in a roll of 7.

There are 36 possible outcomes when you roll two dice (6 times 6).

So the probability of rolling a 7 with two dice is 6 out of 36 (6/36 or 1/6).
