The answer is y = -x + 12
An equation of a line that is parallel to y = -x - 1 will have the
same slope of -1 (y = (-1)x - 1.
using the equation y-y1=m(x-x1) where m is the slope and y1 and
x1 are represented by the coordinates given the line needs to pass
through (3,9) (x1,y1)
y - 9 = -1(x - 3) - distributive property
y - 9 = -x + 3 - add 9 on both sides
y = -x + 12
you end up with y = -x + 12.
If you graph this equation you will see that
it passes through the point (3,9).
