If each set on sale contains 12 glasses, write and solve an inequality which can be used to determine x, the number of sets of glasses Evelyn could buy for the restaurant to have enough glasses.

12x >= 564

x >= 47

So at least 47 sets of new glasses must be purchased to yield at least 769 glasses total.

Converting this into an inequality:

Let x be the sets of glasses needed. To get the number of total glasses from the number of sets, you can write -

12x

Add the 205 glasses already present -

12x + 205

The total number of glasses is at least 769. In terms of an inequality, this means that the total number either must be greater or equal to this amount -

12x + 205 ≥ 769
