Consecutive Integer Problems – Linear

The lengths of the three sides of a triangle (in feet) are consecutive even integers. If the perimeter is 6060 feet, find the value of the shortest of the three side lengths.

Your equation does NOT guarantee that the sides will be EVEN integers. In this problem it does, in fact come out that way since the perimeter is even; but if the perimeter had been odd and divisible by 3 your answer would have been incorrect. Your equation should have been 2x+2x+2+2x+4=6060 and the shortest leg is then 2x which in this case is 2018.

I stand by my solution. It is specified in the problem that the solution is three consecutive even integers. There is no possible situation in which three consecutive odd integers would add up to 6060. Replacing x with 2x in the equation changes nothing.
