Preference is the short answer. The longer answer is that the best engine for you is one that aligns with your game idea! Look for tools that allow you to learn quickly and efficiently within the engine. I recommend researching each engine’s strengths and focuses to determine what best meets your needs.
There are numerous pros and cons to consider for each engine, so it's essential to choose one you feel most comfortable with and that can support your goals. For instance, Unity is an excellent starting point, particularly for 2D games, with a vast library of assets and tutorials to assist you. On the other hand, Unreal Engine excels in creating immersive 3D experiences, offering a user-friendly interface and powerful visual scripting capabilities.
Both engines are exceptional in their own right and can be used for a variety of projects. Ultimately, choose the one that best suits your vision and requirements!
