Let s = length of side of the square.
The perimeter of the square is s + s + s + s or 4s since all sides of a square are equal.
That means: 56 = 4s (perimeter is 56). So, s = 56/4 = 14.
The area of a square is side squared (or, length times width).
A = s2
Since we know that s = 14 the area must be 142=196 meters2
