To build the function from the word problem we need to identify what information represents what part of the function.
W as a function of x is written as W(x) and this function is going to be linear in the form W(x)=mx+b. X represents the number of boxes on the table.
Next, m represents our constant of proportionality or slope which is 30 taken from the amount each box weighs.
Finally b represents the weight of the table without any boxes on it, this is gotten from doing 310 - 30*8 = 70.
so, W(x) = 30x+70.
