Let's call the first page number x. Both pages are next to each other, so the second page number is x+1.
We want the product of the two to equal 600, so: x * (x+1) = 600
Let's solve for x.
distribute the x:
x2+x = 600
set equal to 0:
x2+x -600 = 0
Factor:
(x+25)(x-24) = 0
x = -25, x=24
we can't have negatives, so we know our x is 24! That means the first page number is 24 and the second is 24 + 1 = 25.
