How much will my final exam affect my grade

My grade in a class is currently 96.9%. My final is worth 10% of my current grade. If I completely fail my final, how much would it bring my grade down?

.9 x 96.9= 87.21% if you get a zero on the Final Exam .

but a failing F grade of 59 on the Final Exam would mean a Final grade of

.9x96.9 + .1(59 = 87.21+5.9 = 93.11%

It's a weighted average

so you'll get somewhere between 87 and 93 if you fail the Final Exam
