The longest muscle in the human body is the sartorius muscle (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16162934/).
Interestingly enough, its name refers to the Latin sartor, translating to tailor (the same root sartorial derives from), because of the cross-legged position that tailors used to sit in (The sartorius runs across the anterior portion of the thigh, meaning that it is pivotal in maintaining this position; https://www.physio-pedia.com/Sartorius). It is sometimes also called the tailor's muscle.
