Buses leave one terminal regularly at two minute intervals and travel uniformly all at the same speed. a car leaves the terminal simultaneously with one of the buses and travels to the other terminal at four times the speed of the buses. how many buses will the car overtake by the time it reaches the terminus?

buses leave every 2 minutes

a car leaves at the same time as a bus, and travels 4 times as fast as the bus

how many buses does the car pass until it reaches the other terminal?

assume a specific distance, say 30 miles from 1 to the other terminal

bus goes 30 mph, car goes 4x30 = 120 mph arriving in 15 minutes

in 15 minutes 15/2 = 7 1/2 buses had left heading to the 2nd terminal

the car passes 7 buses when it reaches the terminal
