Hi Regina,
Question: denise has 6 yards of ribbon to make bows. how many bows can she make from the ribbon if each bow uses 3/4 yard of ribbon
Given: 6 yards of ribbon
Find: the number of bows using 3/4 yard of ribbon
To find how many you can get from 6 yards, you are dividing the 6 yards into 3/4 yard pieces.
So you are finding 6 yards divided by 3/4 yards
6 / (3/4) = 6 x (4/3) = 24/3 = 8. You can get 8 bows from the 6 yards.
