I love tutoring Math.
Taylor has
y = 250 + 50x
dollars after x months.
(I wish they had called the number of months "m" instead of "x".)
(I wish they had called the number of dollars "d" instead of "y".)
For example, at the start she has 250 dollars.
After 1 month, she has 300 dollars.
After 2 months, she has 350 dollars.
After 3 months, she has 400 dollars.
It keeps going up, at the rate of 50 dollars per month.
Five years is 5 · 12 = 60 months.
So after 5 years (or 60 months), we can plug x=60 into the above equation and see that Taylor will have
y = 350 + 50x = 250 + 50⋅60 = 250 + 300 = 550 dollars.
