Hello Kylie,
It took Freda 5 hours to plant 145 bulbs meanwhile Bob planted 150 in 6 hours. If they each work for 8 hours, how many bulbs will they plant together?
Given:
Freda Plants 145 bulbs per 5 hours. Freda's rate is 145/5 = 29bulbs/hour
Bob Plants 150 Bulbs per 6 hours. Bob's rate is 150/6 = 25 bulbs / hour
They both work for 8 hours.
Find: How many bulbs will they plant together.
This is asking for us to determine the TOTAL they plant together.
We can find out how many each of them plant in 8 hours and add them together.
Freda: 29bulbs/hour x 8 hours = 232 Bulbs
Bob: 25 bulbs/hour x 8 hours = 200 Bulbs
Together they will plant 232+200 = 432 Bulbs.
Hope this helps!
