Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
2 3/4 = 11/4
divided by 1/3 = (11/4)/(1/3) = (11/4)(3)= 33/4 = 8 1/4 = 8.25
You have 2 3/4 pizzas
and you have some people, each wanting a 1/3 slice of a pizza
how many people can you satisfy?
at most 8, as 8 times 1/3 = 8/3 = 32/12 < 33/12 = 11/4
so you can satisfy 8, plus have 1/12 slice left over to give to a 9th person
that 9th person wanted 1/3 of a slice but you gave them 1/12, which is 1/4 what they wanted
so you can say you satisfied 8 1/4 people which is 2 3/4 divided by 1/3
