Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
vertical shift up by 4
graphically, f and g are two parallel lines
with the same steep slope = 5
but g has y intercept =4, f has y intercept= 0
g's y intercept is 4 units higher than f's y intercept
g has an x intercept= -4, f has an x intercept = 0
the transformation is a vertical shift up by 4
or
the transformation is a horizontal shift left by 4
either is correct, but not both
you want the vertical shift though, if this is computer graded, or if your instructor is, what's the word, a little obtuse & rigidly dogmatic?
y=5x +0 to y=5x +4 is a vertical shift up
y= 5(x+0) + 0 to y-5(x+4)+0 is a horizontal shift left by 4
they're the same thing graphically or algebraically
