In order to find the vertex you need the axis of symmetry formula which is x=-b/2a

X=-2/2(1) or x=-2/2 or x=-1

Then plug that value into the equation to find the y value of vertex

Y=(-1)²+2(-1)+5 or y=1-2+5 or y=4

Vertex form is y=a(x-h)+k however a=1 from standard form equation and vertex is (h,k)

Y=(x--1)+4 or y=(x+1)+4
