asked 10/22/23t=50+N-40/4 if t=50 what is the answer

There are two ways to read this problem and they have different answers. One way is
t = 50 + (N-40)/4.
if this is what is meant, then multiply each term by 4 to remove the fraction.
4(t) = 4(50) + 4((N-40/4). So
4t = 200 + (N-40). The 4's cancel. Put t = 50
4(50) = 200 + (N - 40). Simplify
200. = 200 + N - 40. Collect like terms
200 = 160 + N Subtract 160 from both sides.
40 = N
and the other way is.
t = 50 + N - 40/4 Put 50 in place of t.
50 = 50 + N - 10. Collect like terms
50 = 40 + N Subtract 40 from both sides.
10 = N.
It is very important to be clear about the original problem.
