how do i slove this word probmels

RUNNING Izzy runs at an average speed of 5.2 miles per hour. After 4 hours, Izzy has run 21 miles. Write an equation in point-slope form to find the total distance y Izzy travels after x hours.

Let x = number of hours and y = distance traveled in x hours


y = 5.2x + b


Use the fact that y = 21 when x = 4 to solve for b.

He really runs at 21/4 = 5.25 mph (slope). Use that figure and b = 0 (at time 0 hours he has just started the run). Also, y = mx + b is slope-intercept, not point-slope form. S/B y -21 = 5.25(x - 4).
