Although I cannot see the diagram that you are asking about, I can tell you how to find the answer.
Use the Pythagorean theorem, that is
a2 + b2 = c2 where a and b are the sides of the rectangle and c is the diagonal.
Example if the screen measures 27" by 36", those numbers will be a and b.
So. 272 + 362 = c2
729 + 1296 = c2
2025 = c2
Now take the square root.
c = 45". Note the diagonal will always be longer than either of the sides.
